Dracula anthracina is an epiphytic orchid in the genus Dracula.
Description
Plant blooms in spring and fall with a single 2.5 wide flower. The flowers are similar to those of Dracula benedictii, Dracula pholeodytes, Dracula diabola, and Dracula vinacea but differs by having a small triangular shape flower with a spread lip.
The plant was first flowered by J & L Orchids in Connecticut who obtained the plant from H. SchmidtMumm of Bogota in the late 1970s.
Distribution
Plants are found in Colombia at elevations of 1800 to 2500 meters
Culture
Keep plant in partial shade. Plant can be grown in cool to cold conditions. Pot the plant in fine bark with perlite or sphagnum moss. Water regularly and keep potting media moist.
