Dracula venosa is an epiphytic orchid in the genus Dracula.

Description[]

Plant blooms from summer to fall with a 2 cm wide flower. A member of the Costatae subsection, it has prominently crested ovaries.

Plant was first introduced into cultivation by F. Sander and Company in England.

Distribution[]

Plants are found growing in northwestern Ecuador, province of Carchi, along the road from Tulcan to Maldonado, where a great many Dracula species can be found.

Culture[]

Keep plant in partial shade. Plant can be grown in warm conditions. Pot the plant in fine bark with perlite or sphagnum moss. Water regularly and keep potting media moist.

Naming[]

Etymology': The "veins" are supposedly to be found on the lip and are hardly unique to this species of Dracula.
