Stanhopea costaricensis is an orchid species found in Central America.
Distribution[]
The plant is found on lower branches of trees in evergreen cloud forest of Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of 700 to 1400 meters.
Description[]
Plant blooms during spring and summer with 3 to 7 flowers per an inflorescence. Flowers are fragrant and 10 to 12 cm wide.
Culture[]
Plant should be grown in shade. Keep in intermediate to warm temperatures and water regularly. Pot in medium fir bark or sphagnum moss. Keep humidity high. Plants are usually grown in baskets.
